Corvette Interior Paint in OEM Correct Color Used to Refinish C5 Console
Like other C5 Corvette owners, Jake G. wanted to change his stereo system form a single-Din to a double-DIN head unit. This way he could add a touch screen entertainment system. As part of this procedure a new console and lid, designed to incorporate the screen, is installed. As the console came unpainted, Jake wanted to use Corvette interior paint that matched the OEM black color.
Before console replacement and screen install
Jake researched Corvette online forum posts about the double-DIN upgrade and learned many people were using ColorBond LVP Refinisher to paint the console. Seeing they were pleased with the results, and with ColorBond being the only company he could find that offered Corvette interior paint in the correct OEM colors, Jake decided to follow suit.
Corvette Interior Paint Process
Knowing proper preparation is key to a long-lasting paint job, Jake started by using a wax and grease remover on the console and then cleaned it with ColorBond Prep Cleaner. Before painting he applied ColorBond Adhesion Promoter. Overall, Jake used two cans of LVP Refinisher as he wanted to be extra sure the paint would be thick enough to remain after the continued wear of his knee rubbing on the console.
“I did the job in one afternoon. It looks great, and the paint laid down awesome – flat and clean” says Jake.
After
Looks terrific Jake!
